A) Smart Lock Pro
There are three different options to bring your Smart Lock Pro (4th Generation) online: using the built-in Wi-Fi module, the Nuki Bridge, or Thread.
Initial Setup
Remote Access via Thread is already included when your Smart Lock Pro arrives.
As soon as you activate Matter, Remote Access is enabled, allowing you to control your Smart Lock remotely. Your Smart Lock uses the Thread connection with the Smart Home Hub to ensure remote access.
Setup with activated built-in Wi-Fi module
If you had previously activated the built-in Wi-Fi module, it will be automatically deactivated as soon as Remote Access via Thread is available. Thread not only makes your Smart Home more stable, but it is also more energy-efficient compared to the connection via the Wi-Fi module. This results in a longer battery life of your Smart Lock.
Setup with connected Bridge
If your Smart Lock is connected to a Bridge, Remote Access via Thread is not activated automatically. Your Nuki App provides the option to delete the existing Bridge connection via the Matter overview screen.
- Open the settings of your Smart Lock in the Nuki App.
- Then select "Features & Configuration" > "Smart Home"
- Click on "Matter" and choose the option "Delete Bridge connection".
Once you have deleted the existing Bridge connection in the app, you can use Remote access via Thread.
B) Smart Lock
The standard variant of the Smart Lock (4th Generation) does not have a built-in Wi-Fi module. To control the Smart Lock remotely, you need the Nuki Bridge or Remote Access via Thread.
You can activate Remote Access via Thread through a one-time payment (€ 49,00).
Initial Setup
After activating Remote Access, your Smart Lock is immediately reachable from afar without additional steps. Your Smart Lock uses the Thread connection with the Smart Home Hub to ensure remote access.
Setup with connected Bridge
If you had previously connected your Smart Lock via the Nuki Bridge and now want to use Remote Access via your Matter integration, you must first delete the existing Bridge connection. Only by deleting the Bridge connection, the Thread connection can be used instead of the Nuki Bridge.
Your Nuki App provides the option to delete the existing Bridge connection via the Matter overview screen:
- Open the settings of your Smart Lock in the Nuki App.
- Then select "Features & Configuration" > "Smart Home"
- Click on "Matter" and choose the option "Delete Bridge connection".
Once you have deleted the existing Bridge connection in the app, tap on "Matter" again. Now you can activate Remote Access.
