Mounting on the door

Easy installation: Assembly and setup in just a few steps

As a Nuki accessory, the Nuki Door Sensor offers variable mounting options on the door and the door frame. This way external influences can be reduced, increasing reliability.

Note: Nuki Smart Lock 1.0 and 2.0 are not compatible with the Nuki Door Sensor. However, the Smart Lock 2.0 has a built-in door sensor (beta). You can find an installation guide for the door sensor of the Smart Lock 2.0 here.

Mounting instructions

  1. Clean the door and the door frame before you start the installation to ensure a proper mounting setup.

  2. Remove the cover of the battery compartment (back of the sensor). This serves as a mounting plate for installing the Nuki Door Sensor.

  3. Remove the protective foil from the mounting plate and position it to the door frame.
Note: If you have already mounted the door sensor, detach the sensor from the mounting plate.

  4. The magnet serves as a counterpart to the Nuki Door Sensor. Please note the following instructions when mounting the magnet:

    • Position the magnet directly to the inside of the door.
    • The marking on the sensor shows you which side of the sensor should face the magnet.
    • Make sure that the distance between Nuki Door Sensor and magnet is always between 0.5cm and 3cm.
    • That edge of the door sensor which is farthest from the sensor's LED should be at the same level as the magnet.
  5. Once the mounting plate of the door sensor and the magnet are mounted to the door and the frame, continue with the setup of the Nuki Door Sensor.

With an ideal positioning you can achieve highest reliability of the door status detection. Depending on your door, the optimal position for sensor and magnet differs.
Installation examples can be found here.

How to place the Door Sensor on your door: If the door and the frame are at the same level, the magnet must be mounted parallel to the Nuki Door Sensor. If the door and the door frame are not on the same level, position the magnet on the edge of the door at a 90° angle to the sensor.
