Exploring alternatives following the discontinuation of IFTTT integration
IFTTT was one of the first services integrated with Nuki in 2016. At that time, our app did not offer anywhere near the same scope as it does today, which is why this service offered our users the greatest possible flexibility.
We decided to discontinue the integration with IFTTT as all important features are either available directly in the Nuki app, in Nuki Web or via other partner integrations.
This article guides you on maintaining access to these features, ensuring a smooth transition even after the service will be discontinued in October 2024.
The most commonly used features on IFTTT are:
- Receiving a notification when a specific person unlocks the door.
- Getting a notification when the device's battery level is low. Also, receiving an email notification.
- Ensuring that the door is locked at a specific time every day.
- Using your Smart Lock as part of routines with other Smart Home devices.
Here are some ways in which you can continue to use these features:
Push Notifications
Continue to receive notifications for lock actions or other important events.
Follow these steps:
- Open your Nuki App.
- Go to "Settings" > "Features & Configuration".
- Select "Notifications".
- Sign in with your Nuki Web Account.
- Enable the desired notifications.
If you want someone else to receive the same notifications, no problem! They can either use the same Nuki Web Account or you can create a Sub-account in the rights management in Nuki Web.
Battery Warnings
The battery level of your Smart Lock is displayed through various channels.
Here's how you can receive battery warnings via email:
- Log in to your Nuki Web Account.
- Go to "Devices" and select the desired device.
- Now open the "Administration" and activate "Battery alerts via email."
If the battery level falls below 20%, an email will be sent to the main account's email address. Please note that these email notifications are only available for the main account.
If you want to receive a push notification on your smartphone enable notifications as explained under “Push Notifications” and enable notifications for “Warnings and errors”.
Automatic Actions
You have various options for setting up automatic actions with Nuki. Depending on your individual use case, you can use the Night Mode, Auto Lock, or Scheduling.
-
Night Mode activates various security features of the Nuki Smart Lock: Nuki locks your door twice (720°) during the selected period and activates the energy-saving mode for your Smart Lock. Additionally, Auto Unlock and Auto Lock can be specifically set for this period.
-
Auto Lock was specifically developed to enhance the security and convenience of your smart home. If you activate this feature, your Smart Lock will lock the door after a selected timeframe.
- The Scheduling feature allows you to set times of the day when your door will automatically unlock or lock. Have your door automatically unlock every morning or automatically lock every night at a specific time.
Nuki as trigger with other Smart Home Integrations
The Nuki Smart Lock is compatible with numerous Smart Home platforms. Popular features can be implemented today, for instance, through Alexa or Google Home routines.
Example: Setting up an Alexa Routine for your Nuki Smart Lock and Philips Hue lamps.
Setting up an Alexa Routine for your Nuki Smart Lock and Philips Hue lamps is a great way to automate your home lighting when you arrive at home.
Here's a step-by-step guide on how to create an Alexa Routine for this specific scenario:

Connect Nuki to Alexa:
Make sure your Nuki Smart Lock and Philips Hue lights are set up and connected to your Alexa account. That’s how you can connect Nuki to Alexa.
-
Create a routine:
a) Open the Alexa app on your mobile device and tap on the "More" option at the bottom right.
